Wenatchee Valley Velo Club
Bringing riders of all disciplines together in the North Central Valley!
Wenatchee Valley Velo Club is a Wenatchee-based cycling group started in 1998 that welcomes both road cyclists and mountain bikers. Our goal is to promote the sport through advocacy, including educating the community about safe cycling, holding cycling events and social rides.
Our events and activities include weekly club group rides during the warmer-weather months, the Tour de Bloom Stage Race the first weekend of May, the Ride of Silence in mid-May, the Dark Side Festival in late September, the Fall Classic Ride in October, and the Yeti Ride on New Year’s Day.
We support communities and businesses throughout the Wenatchee Valley and are a member of Washington Bikes, formerly known as the Washington State Bike Alliance.
TOUR DE BLOOM
The Tour de Bloom Stage Race is a three-day USA Cycling-certified event being held during Wenatchee’s famous Apple Blossom Festival typically in early May. This fast paced cycling event is organized by the Wenatchee Valley Velo Club featuring a road race in Plain on Friday, a Merckx-style Time Trial on Saturday morning, a twilight criterium in historic downtown Wenatchee on Saturday afternoon and evening, and a road race among the rolling wheat fields near Waterville in adjacent Douglas County on Sunday.
RIDE OF SILENCE
This free ride asks participants to move no faster than 10 mph and to remain silent during the procession — all as a way to honor those who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways, and to raise awareness that cyclists have a legal right to public roadways. Many motorists are not aware that bicyclists are legally required to ride in the streets and roads, and not on sidewalks.
DARK SIDE FESTIVAL
In the Fall, come for a race, a ride or a run. Or come just for the music and beer and food. No matter what you partake in, you’ll end up clamoring for more — and helping a great cause!
Kick off the new year right on this Velo New Years day Club ride! We meet at Garlini's at 11:00 a.m. January 1st. We’ll be riding the river front trail with at least one stop for Yeti juice and a quick visit to keep the engine running. The ride will return to Garlini's where you can choose to come in and enjoy a recovery drink and fixin’s.
Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the ride is due to commence.
Non-members, please see ride leader before start of ride to secure ride waiver form if you do not have one on file.
