Construction Update to Loop Trail / Pipeline Bridge Access and Detours

6 Jun 2026 9:13 PM | Dennis Mead (Administrator)

Following is response received on June 5th from my inquiry to Wenatchee Engineering Dept concerning the South End Bike / Ped Access Project.

"Thank you for your email regarding the South End Bike/Ped Access Bridges Project. My sincere apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

I can confirm that the project remains on schedule to reopen the Pipeline Bridge and restore the Apple Capital Loop Trail connection by November 2026. We fully understand and appreciate the impact that this closure has had on trail users, and we are working diligently with our contractor and their suppliers to maintain that part of our schedule.

As an update on progress, several major project components have been completed in recent weeks, and fabrication of the bridge trusses remains on track. We anticipate installation of the major bridge elements in the next few months, after which work will focus on railings, lighting, and site restoration necessary to reopen the Loop. While some project work in South Wenatchee on the west side of the railroad tracks will continue beyond the reopening of the Loop, we remain on track to restore trail access in November 2026 as originally anticipated.

We also appreciate your feedback regarding the detour route over the Sellars Bridge. We recognize the concerns that trail users have experienced and are continuing to coordinate with fellow City staff and local law enforcement.

Thank you for your patience and for reaching out. Please let me know if I can answer any additional questions!
